Mavena was established in 2006 in Split with an aim of upgrading, encouraging and promoting cultural and artistic activities in the city of Split, Croatia, Europe and the world, with the special emphasis in contemporary artistic production of young authors and intercultural cooperation.
NMG — New Media Gallery is a contemporary art platform launched in 2010 with the aim of producing, presenting, promoting and distributing new media art and younger artists.
The continuous annual program is realized through the CURATING SCHOOL, NMG PRODUCTION, NMG EDUCATION, NMG RESIDENCE and NMG @ PRACTICE programs. The programs take place in the Youth Center, as well as in public urban spaces, and so far more than 80 different media projects of young artists have been realized. Not only does this program provide insight into the latest artistic practices, it also actively participates in the positioning of contemporary art as a critical factor in relation to social reality by selecting authors and topics, and presents to the audience a permanent program of contemporary art that is participatory, educational and free of charge.
ISPOD BINE — sound art festival is a joint project by the curator and producer Natasha Kadin and the sound master and artist Hrvoje Pelicarić, which has been produced by Mavena in collaboration with the Multimedia Cultural Centre since 2016, and it represents a cross-section of current developments in the field of experimental and sound art, both visual and performing.
